Cornwall to Get 1Gb Broadband Speed
A grant has been set up to boost the local economy and improve the existing skills of the workforce, and part of its funds will be channelized towards an ambitious project aimed at a major network upgrade project.
The broadband project commencing next year is worth £100 million. It will enable large businesses in the area to enjoy broadband speeds of up to 1Gb. South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and southwestbusiness.co.uk has been roped in to provide the necessary assistance.
Kevin Lavery, the head of Cornwall Council, while giving an update on the project, said that the procurement process is in progress, and that by the end of the year, an announcement will be made about the preferred bidder to develop the network.
