New Rihanna Rude Boy Song Sees the Singer Take a New Direction for the Music Video
The Umbrella vocalist goes back to her dance-hall roots in the eye-popping video which sees her change into a collection of ridiculous costumes including a gold mesh jumpsuit and small tassled shorts. Rihanna related on US radio : “It’s different from any other video I’ve shot before.” “A lot of my videos are actually dark and edgy and troublesome. ‘Rude Boy’ is more playing along the lines from my roots.” We used lots of color, but also the costumes were extraordinarily Jamaican dance-hall queen type.” The video was directed by Melina Matsoukas who also directed Rihanna’s prior video for Hard. The Rihanna Rude Boy music video has been compared to British star M.I.A for it’s funky look.
Rude Boy is the newest single to be taken from Rihanna’s 4th album Rated R. Rihanna’s new video for “Rude Boy” has surfaced, and it appears to be as if RiRi has eventually broken thru the dark, angsty and gun-toting period of her last few videos for Rated R. Preening, booty-shaking and often “playing” the drums against a flashing graffiti-inspired background, Rihanna describes the new clip to MTV as being “completely different from any other video I have shot before.” M.I.A. And Major Lazer, however : they have been there and done that. Rihanna has just premiered a new video for her track, Rude Boy, off her most recent album, Rated R. Though the album initially presented a dark and moody tone just as her leading video for Russian Roulette did, this single takes us into the colourful and tropical realm in which Rihanna appears to feel more at home. She’s from Barbados after all.
