Stage Fright Is a Real Disorder
Have you ever found yourself confident that getting up on stage is possible, only to choke when it comes time to follow through and actually do it? There is a high percentage of the population that can not talk in front of a group of people and suffer from a disorder known as stage fright. Another name that is commonly used is performance anxiety because of the fear that is generated when they are required to perform in front of others. Phobias develop at a young age and doctors and experts are not sure as to what causes them. Some psychologists believe that trauma at an early age, or sometime leading up until the actual public speaking takes place is the cause. Maybe some form of embarrassment or past failures causes them to fear that the pain might happen again. Many real changes happen, the heart speeds up, sweat starts to form, and upset stomach can occur. It does not have to be all negative because there are positive ways to help with this.
Noticing the problem and deciding something should be done to fix it is the first step. Focusing on past successes always helps and with the assistance of a professional there are ways to overcome any past mental or physical traumas. Eating healthy and sleeping good can put the physical body and mind in a productive state to overcome the tension and solve this disorder. Doctors might recommend specific healthy actions to take to win and hopefully one day get up on stage and deliver the best speech ever given to this date.
